Radiation shielding properties of siderurgical aggregate concrete

The world is changing, and consequently so are policies on the use of natural resources. One most convenient ways to reduce consumption aggregates in production more sustainable construction materials recovered industrial by-products. In this study, concretes designed using siderurgical from electric arc furnaces, taking advantage their high density them as radiation shielding concrete. To verify suitability these aggregates, four concrete mixes were with different aggregates: limestone, magnetite (the commonly used nuclear field). comparison was carried out focusing physical–mechanical properties field ionizing (gamma neutron shielding) by means simulations. addition, an analysis performed establish how w/c ratio amount CEM affect properties. terms linear attenuation coefficient transmission rate, shows intermediate capability limestone aggregate increase cement caused a decrease reduction but variation did not have significant impact rate.
